Four new levels were added on to the Victoria Street Carpark by contractor Dominion Constructors.

The extension included structural steel and SPEEDFLOOR® Suspended Concrete Flooring. The construction was accomplished while the rest of the carpark continued to operate as normal.

To meet the demand of this new mall it was essential that a parking deck was constructed, and Suspended Concrete Flooring was the perfect fit.<\/p>\n<h5>Light, Open Spaced and Versatile Parking Layout<\/h5>\n<p>The parking decks have been constructed using long-spanning fabricated structural steel beams and SPEEDFLOOR<span style=\"position: relative; font-size: 16.0284px; line-height: 0; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.5em;\">®<\/span> Suspended Concrete Flooring to produce a light, open spaced and versatile parking layout. The steel beams span the 17 metres between the concrete-filled round columns allowing easy access to the parking bays. The two parking decks side by side have created an impressive entranceway to the new development. The tapered beams form a cantilever that supports a perimeter guard rail and a lightweight concrete planter box, producing a strong ‘green’ connection. The 6 columns supporting the 470 square metre deck offered versatility to the position of the entry and exit on the SPEEDFLOOR<span style=\"position: relative; font-size: 16.0284px; line-height: 0; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.5em;\">®<\/span> Suspended Concrete Flooring. Watts and Hughes are a New Zealand construction company with over 400 finished major projects.<\/p>\n<p>The Auckland central business district site the carpark was constructed on was greatly restrictive, in fact, the car park ramps reach over to the neighbouring property. The size of each floor was also approximately only 450 square metres.<\/p>\n<h5>16-Week Building Program<\/h5>\n<p>The lightweight nature of the SPEEDFLOOR<span style=\"position: relative; font-size: 16.0284px; line-height: 0; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.5em;\">®<\/span> Suspended Concrete Flooring combined with structural steel resulted in minimal foundation and a 16-week building program for this 10-storey carpark. The full 10 storeys had to be erected with the SPEEDFLOOR<span style=\"position: relative; font-size: 16.0284px; line-height: 0; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.5em;\">®<\/span> concrete floors in place before the cantilevered steel trusses supporting the ramp structure could be attached and loaded with the SPEEDFLOOR<span style=\"position: relative; font-size: 16.0284px; line-height: 0; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.5em;\">®<\/span> Joists to construct the ramp.<\/p>\n<h5>Carpark Works Efficiently<\/h5>\n<p>The completed car parking building features 162 car parks and a retail area on the ground level.
