Mega Mall Construction

The Silverdale Mega Mall constructed by Naylor Love, a commercial construction company, features over 23,000 square metres of retail space. To meet the demand of this new mall it was essential that a parking deck was constructed, and Suspended Concrete Flooring was the perfect fit.

Light, Open Spaced and Versatile Parking Layout

The parking decks have been constructed using long-spanning fabricated structural steel beams and SPEEDFLOOR® Suspended Concrete Flooring to produce a light, open spaced and versatile parking layout. The steel beams span the 17 metres between the concrete-filled round columns allowing easy access to the parking bays. The two parking decks side by side have created an impressive entranceway to the new development. The finished parking deck has at least 800 parking spaces.

They turned to PARKD for a modular demountable car park — a cost-efficient option that can be transported and reused in future.<\/p>\nPARKD’s innovative modular transportable car park system was designed to enable fast, streamlined construction of car parks with minimal impact to the building structure. Prefabricated off-site, the system can be erected in a matter of days, saving significant time. The lightweight concrete system is built using three main components: precast columns, continuously voided beams and SPEEDFLOOR®<\/span>Transportable Concrete Floor panels. <\/p>\n“The SPEEDFLOOR®<\/span> panels are an important part of the PARKD Car Park system as they offer a simple light weight solution for the slab structure.” says Peter McUtchen, Managing Director of PARKD.<\/p>\nThe SPEEDFLOOR®<\/span> Transportable Concrete Floor System comprises a unique combination of cold-rolled steel sections and concrete to form a transportable concrete floor. All service holes can be pre-drilled, ensuring easy integration of services. <\/p>\nIn addition to its modular prefabricated construction, the system offers a number of qualities that make it the perfect fit for PARKD’s car park system. “It’s lightweight, it has good spanning ability and the surface finish is exceptional,” explains McUtchen.<\/p>\nThe installation of the PARKD car park system at City Subaru Victoria Park has been smooth and swift. “Within two weeks of completing the footings we reached substantial completion,” says McUtchen. The final result has met City Subaru’s brief and exceeded expectations.<\/p>\n“We’re extremely happy with the efficiency of assembly and the resulting substantial feel to the car park, anything but Flooring.","content":"<h5>Restrictive Construction Site<\/h5>\nThis 10-storey carpark on Commerce Street, constructed by Watts & Hughes for their client Tramco Properties made use of SPEEDFLOOR®<\/span> Suspended Concrete Flooring. Watts and Hughes are a New Zealand construction company with over 400 finished major projects.<\/p>\nThe Auckland central business district site the carpark was constructed on was greatly restrictive, in fact, the car park ramps reach over to the neighbouring property. The size of each floor was also approximately only 450 square metres.<\/p>\n<h5>16-Week Building Program<\/h5>\nThe lightweight nature of the SPEEDFLOOR®<\/span> Suspended Concrete Flooring combined with structural steel resulted in minimal foundation and a 16-week building program for this 10-storey carpark. The full 10 storeys had to be erected with the SPEEDFLOOR®<\/span> concrete floors in place before the cantilevered steel trusses supporting the ramp structure could be attached and loaded with the SPEEDFLOOR®<\/span> Joists to construct the ramp.<\/p>\n<h5>Carpark Works Efficiently<\/h5>\nThe completed car parking building features 162 car parks and a retail area on the ground level.
