Hi {$firstName!"there"}

Winter is here, and that means one thing for those still building with traditional methods: wet weather and work delays. For those building with light gauge steel and offsite construction, those worries do not exist. The walls and floors keep going up, while stress levels and costs stay down.

This month, we check out three new local projects that utilise Rollforming Services and SPEEDFLOOR® to achieve outstanding results for their clients. Whether it is multi-level homes in new subdivisions or custom sheds, the trend of building with light gauge steel continues to gain momentum in New Zealand.

Classic Builders Overlea Project

Classic Builders take the modern approach

Building multiple homes quickly and consistently requires a smart approach. That is why for the Overlea Project in East Auckland, Classic Builders went with SPEEDFLOOR® Steel Joists for their 37 multi-level homes.

Manufactured with millimetre accuracy, the Steel Joists could be swiftly assembled offsite, transported to the site, and effortlessly dropped in by the building team. This level of precision and flexibility is crucial for meeting tight schedules and managing busy job sites, ensuring successful project delivery.

Matakana Shed

Matakana shed showcases precision and versatility

From boats to cars to all the adventure essentials, this Matakana shed is the ultimate storage solution.

With custom specs for a pitched roof, floating mezzanine, and connecting staircase, roll-formed steel was the obvious choice for this build. The build incorporates our high-quality 150mm Framing for the walls and Steel Joists for the mezzanine flooring.

Once manufactured, the walls could be pre-assembled offsite and transported to the client’s home to be installed that day by a team of three workers.

Multi-level residential steel joist installation

Multi-level build accelerates with SPEEDFLOOR®

Builders of this multi-level block of six homes used SPEEDFLOOR® to fast-track installation and reduce time onsite. The floor joist cassettes were manufactured and assembled offsite while the walls below were being finished. The team then hoisted the steel joists into place and were able to start work on the electrics and plumbing immediately, thanks to the pre-punched service holes.
