Montreaux Apartments

Montreaux Apartment is built in Wellington, a region in New Zealand well know for seismic activity. The Engineers chose to use Speedfloor for its lightweight and ‘simply supported’ characteristics.

Most earthquake resistant buildings in New Zealand are rectangular, but the one designed by Architect+, for 164 The Terrace in Wellington had an unusual foot print. It was shaped like an “H”. The reason this was that Montreaux would be apartments and the “H” formation would optimise light and airiness for the tenants.
